A WESTER Ross community group has issued an appeal to get public toilets in the area open again.

It has been issued by Gairloch and Loch Ewe Action Forum which is focussing on toilets at Poolewe and Aultbea.

The forum's aim is to help develop the area, raise awareness and create opportunities to allow local people to live, work and thrive.

It posted: "We need someone or a team of helpers to clean and caretake the public toilets in Poolewe and Aultbea. We are looking for any offers of help either as a volunteer, a self-employed contractor or a member of our staff team on our PAYE.

"We'd welcome offers to join a rota for one or both of the locations. We have a tiny budget from Highland Council to provide the service augmented by local donations. This will allow us to pay up to £8.75/day per village to include time, cleaning products and consumables."

Anyone who think they can help or wants more information is asked to contact GALE.
