THE new owners of a Ross-shire wind farm project are holding a public information event today (Tuesday) to introduce themselves to the local community and businesses.

EDF Energy Renewables recently bought the Corriemoillie project which lies on a site 4km west of Garve. The 19 turbine wind farm proposal was originally developed by E.ON.

Now they are holding an event to meet local businesses and update the local community on their plans.

Don Mackay, Director of Construction and Engineering for EDF Energy Renewables said: "We wanted to provide people living near the site with an opportunity to come and meet the team who will be taking the project forward so they can find out more about our construction plans and ask any questions they might have.

"We prefer to work wherever possible with the local supply chain and UK based companies at all stages of the construction and operation of our wind farms. Although some aspects of the project require specialist skills there is still plenty of opportunity for local businesses to get involved and we look forward to welcoming them at the event so that they can find out more about what we’re looking for and can register their interest in the project."

The services EDF Energy Renewables will be looking for at Corriemoillie will include everything from civil construction to taxi hire and accommodation.

The information event will take place in Garve Village Hall from 2pm until 8pm.

Members of the construction team will be on hand to provide more information about the company’s plans for the project and possible timescales for construction.

EDF Energy Renewables are also proposing to set up a community liaison group ahead of the start of any construction and will be happy to hear from anyone interested in being involved in the group.
