A ROSS-SHIRE veterinary group has appealed to dog owners to be aware of the risk of snake bites to their pets.

Easter Ross Vets, which has branches in Tain, Invergordon and Alness, is asked dog owners to be wary of the dangers posed by adder bites when out walking.

It posted: "Adders are most commonly found on moorland, heathland and woodland and an exploring dog can easily come into contact with one.

"Please call immediately if you think your dog has been bitten."
