A Conon Bridge woman unleashed a torrent of abuse at police after she was arrested for an alleged assault on her partner.

Agnes Stewart of Windsor Place had gone to visit her ex-partner on January 27, this year and Inverness Sheriff Court was told : "It was not particularly pleasant."

Defence solicitor Willie Young told Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood: "He was abusive towards her and when she returned home she took an excessive amount of alcohol.

"Police arrived as he had claimed he had been assaulted by her."

The court heard that the 27-year-old was taken to Burnett Road Police Station in Inverness where she shouted, swore, made offensive and derogatory remarks and uttered threats of violence.

Stewart admitted threatening or abusive behaviour and was fined £360.

Mr Young added: "She has little recollection of what took place and regrets acting in this fashion."
