Polling stations open across Ross-shire for the 2019 General Election

POLLING stations across Ross-shire have opened for the 2019 General Election.

A total of 18 candidates are seeking election or the three Highland UK Parliamentary general election constituencies.

Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross constituency has attracted five candidates.

Ross, Skye and Lochaber constituency has seven.

The Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey constituency has six candidates.

Polling stations across the Highlands will be open from 7am to 10pm tonight.

The votes will be counted overnight at Inverness Leisure Centre with results not expected until the early hours of Friday morning.

Postal votes can also be handed in at any polling station in Highland between 7am and 10pm on polling day.
