Maryburgh defibrillator installed as teamwork pays dividends for Ross-shire village

Residents in Maryburgh now have access to a new defibrillator.
The device was bought by Duncan Stewart and is now fixed on the wall of the village hall beside the noticeboard.
The ward councillors provided a grant to help cover costs of the cabinet it is housed in. The community council sourced the defibrillator and hosted a range of fundraising to help purchase it.
One such night, organised by Peter Dingwall, was a bingo event taking in £1490 which will help with maintenance costs.
The machine was bought from charity, Lucky2bhere which on the first Monday of the month offers training over zoom.
Participants will learn how to do CPR, use the defibrillator, and understand how to deal with seizures and choking. Several community council members have already taken up this training so as to be ready for emergencies.
A spokesperson for the Maryburgh Community Council said: “We trust this will be a worthwhile addition for the village but let’s hope we will not have to use the equipment.”
