Dingwall pays its respects ahead of Armed Forces Day at flag-raising ceremony in town

A ROSS-SHIRE town was amongst communities across Scotland acknowledging the armed forces this week.
Armed Forces Day on Saturday, June 24 shows support for the men and women who make up the armed forces.
A raising of the flag ceremony was replicated in many communities on Monday this week, amongst them Dingwall.
A week of awareness began when the Armed Forces Day flag was raised on buildings and famous landmarks.
Guests from the local British Legion (Dingwall and Invergordon), local councillors and a representative from Help for Heroes and Poppy Scotland attended along with ceremony a pupil from Dingwall Academy.
Robert Bain, Deputy Lord Lieutenant, accompanied by Rev Julia Boothby and LorLieutenant’s Cadet, Corporal Calum Sutherland, gathered at the flagpole of the council buildings in the county town for event.
Rev Boothby dedicated the flag which was then raised by Corporal Calum Sutherland.
Ruaraidh Drennan played the pipes during the ceremony.
