Many have fond memories of the tattie holidays during the October school break.

For generations of schoolchildren, it was perhaps the first money they earned independently.

Many will recall the camaraderie and, no doubt, the sore backs the following day!

Times have moved on and mechanisation has replaced much of that back-breaking work.
