THE psychological impact of the latest coronavirus crisis setback has prompted an appeal to anyone struggling with their mental health to reach out.

Black Isle-based Patrick Mullery, who runs James Support Group which helps those affected by suicide, said working from home and the subsequent isolation could impact on people's mental health.

He said: "There is no doubt that we all need to do our bit to help stop the spread of the Omicron virus, but also we all need to do our bit to stop suicide. Poor Mental Health is a real problem right now, right here in the Highlands and it isn’t going away any time soon.

"We are in the worst time of year for suicides. This is exacerbated by the short daylight hours during winter and these Covid measures certainly do not help. Like The Samaritans,we operate a 24/7 helpline for those who are affected by suicide whether bereaved or by having thoughts of suicide.

"Please don’t suffer alone, because you are not. Our helpline number is 07563 572471.

“It’s OK not to be OK".
