A Ross-shire man has been remanded in custody after admitting carrying out various offences against a string of women.

Joseph Stewart (23) exposed himself to a girl at a house party after consuming alcohol some time between October 2015 and 2016, Inverness Sheriff Court heard.

He then went on to sexually assault another female in her home in March 2019 after entering her house in the Aultbea area, despite being not invited.

He also admitted stalking charges involving various women between 2019 and 2021, sending sexual messages and appearing at some of their properties and causing a disturbance.

Stewart, a prisoner at HMP Inverness, had his sentence deferred for background reports and was remanded in custody.

Sheriff Gary Aitken said there was a "very high possibility" of a custodial sentence being imposed when he returns to court on March 10.

Stewart was placed on the sex offenders register meantime.
