The Haven Centre will be Scotland’s first multi-purpose centre for children and young people with severe learning disabilities.

It is being built by the Elsie Normington Foundation and is due to open in 2023 in Inverness.

People living in the Highlands are getting a chance to come and meet foundation chairwoman Elsie Normington at a special event in Ullapool to ask questions about the centre, and the services it will be able to offer.

“The event is for parents, teachers, health and social care workers and all professionals involved with special needs,” a spokesman said.

“Come and hear an update about the exciting developments, building the Haven Centre in Inverness.

“There will also be an opportunity to ask questions about the Haven buildings and services.”

The event will be held at Ullapool’s village hall on Thursday, October 27 from 10am to midday.

A further session will be held at No limits, Wick Family Centre, Bank Row, Wick on Thursday, November 3 from 10am to midday.

Book your place for either at info@enfoundation.co.uk

Zoom links will also run for those who physically cannot attend.
