FOOTBALL-loving pupils at a Ross-shire primary will be allowed to watch Scotland's European Championship opener with today.

Highland Council said last week it would devolve a decision over the matter to individual schools.

Scotland face the Czech Republic in their opening fixture which is being played at 2pm at Hampden Park today.

Tarradale Primary in Muir of Ord has nailed its colours to the mast by making clear classes who want to watch the action will be allowed to do so.

It posted: "So? Has football fever hit your house yet? All classes on Monday who want to watch the Scotland game will be able to.

"It can be a fantastic learning opportunity so we will make the most of it. Football tops will be allowed for the day with a wee prize for the most diverse or far-flung top! How many colours can we have in one day?"

Fortrose Academy meanwhile has outlined plans for its own 'fan zone' event for pupils.
