POLL: Are you happy to continue wearing a facemask, even if you are fully vaccinated?

A POLL on the continued use of face masks, when people have had both vaccines, is almost evenly split.

52 per cent of people said they were happy to continue wearing a face mask, while 48 per cent said they would like to drop the mask.

We asked readers if they were happy to continue wearing a face mask, even if they were fully vaccinated, and it looks like opinion is split.

639 people said we should keep wearing face masks while 596 people said the masks can be dropped as soon as we are vaccinated.

Readers made their feelings known in a debate on The Ross-shire Journal's Facebook page.

Susan MacDonald said: "Two jabs or fully vaccinated does not mean you're invincible, so yes keep wearing the mask. Those who think it's all a conspiracy keep scrolling!"

Steve McLernon replied: "Please don't believe everything the government tells you Susan. Masks are dangerous and you need to be aware of that. No conspiracy theory just plain evidenced facts."

Bea Te said: "Difficult to answer, as I'd say no mask, but as all this shedding from the vaccinated is happening, maybe they should keep it on and stay well away from healthy unvaccinated people."

While Elinor Lee pointed out the other benefits of wearing a mask, she said: "Not only will the mask help prevent the spread of Covid it will also, along with good hand washing and hygiene, prevent other communicable diseases such as colds, flu and winter vomiting bug."

Chris Dowling said: "If we still have to live with this type of restrictions after the vast majority have had the vaccine then what was the point in having it at all?"

While Siân Wilson said: "If this virus was so deadly why do we not have bins for masks to be taken away and disposed of properly?".

The poll remains open, and you can add your opinion on the newspaper's social media platforms.
