POLICE in Alness are appealing for the public’s help to identify the driver of a vehicle after a dog was struck in a neighbouring community.

The incident happened yesterday morning (Friday, December 29) on Saltburn Road, Invergordon, according to police.

They say that at 8.50am, a dark brown dog ran from Saltburn Beach on to the westbound carriageway of Saltburn Road "and was unfortunately struck by a vehicle".

The vehicle may have been transporting wood at the time, police said in an appeal for information issued today.

Police are keen to trace the drivers of a small white car and a maroon-coloured saloon car who may be able to assist with enquiries.

They have not stated whether the dog survived the incident or not.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101, quoting reference 2960 of December 29, 2023.
