A man's 100 mile cycle ride has raised funds for a local primary school.

Evanton resident Andrew Newton recently completed a 100-mile cycle ride across Scotland to raise funds for Kiltearn Primary School in the Ross-shire village.

Being a volunteer heritage educator Andrew chose to start his ride at Culloden Battlefield and end it at Glenfinnan, where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised the Jacobite Standard in 1745.

Mr Newton said: "Volunteering in the school has shown me how essential it is that each classroom has a 'Smart Board' to allow the pupils to benefit from modern teaching methods".

So far the cross-country cycle ride has raised more than £1600 towards a target of £2000 and Mr Newton's crowdfunding page will remain open over the school summer holidays so that anyone else who wishes to contribute to the fund can do so.
