A man has admitted careless driving in Ullapool that resulted in two pedestrians having to dodge out of his way.

Ryan Salter (31) was in the Ross-shire village on August 31 on Quay Street when the incident happened, Inverness Sheriff Court heard.

Fiscal depute Emma MacEwan said his silver Honda CRV was seen by the two pedestrians beforehand as indicating that it was going to turn left at a junction from Market Street and assumed it was safe to cross.

But instead he turned right just as they were crossing that part of Quay Street.

Court papers said the two pedestrians had to take "evasive action" due to the due to Satler's mistake behind the wheel.

The court further heard he was unfamiliar with the area.

The two pedestrians confronted Satler at a petrol station afterwards.

Defence agent John MacColl said: "This is careless driving at the lower end of the scale."

Sheriff Ian Cruickshank fined Satler, of Ninian Quadrant, Glenrothers, Fife, a total of £450 and endorsed his driving licence with three penalty points.
