A Ross-shire man who lives "off-grid" has been banned from the roads after being caught driving with no car insurance.
Roger Alsop (57) admitted the offence which took place on December 10 2021 when he appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court.
Fiscal depute Emma MacEwan said police were in an unmarked police car when they pulled him over between Quay Street and Argyle Street.
She added: "Police then spoke with the accused and noticed the smell of cannabis."
A drugs test was carried out and cannabis derivatives were detected.
The reading was three micrograms per litre of blood - with the prescribed limit being two micrograms.
He admitted the drug driving charge in addition to the insurance charge.
Defence agent Neil Wilson said his client lived out of the "remains of a camper van" and he was living "off-grid" and that he tried to distant himself from society in general.
Alsop's address was given as The Black Bus Historic situated on the A832 Braemore to Gorstan junction.
Sheriff Robert Frazer imposed a total fine of £600 with a victim surcharge of £40 and disqualified him from driving for 12 months.
