The case was heard at Inverness Sheriff Court.

An Easter Ross man brutally assaulted his ex-partner with whom he had retained a friendship despite their separation.

But Inverness Sheriff Court heard that when 26-year-old Colin Williamson turned up drunk at her Invergordon home in Mains Avenue on December 20, 2022, he became violent when he was asked to leave.

Fiscal depute Robert Weir told the court: "They were previously in a relationship for several years but remained friends.

"She got a phone call from his father asking if she knew where his son was and she went looking for him.

"Then she got a phone call from her son to say he was at her home with another man and was drunk.

"She returned home and asked them to leave but he turned round and punched her several times. She fell to the floor and struck her head and he repeatedly kicked her.

"Police were contacted, paramedics attended and she was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness but left before being treated. She suffered multiple bruises."

Williamson admitted assault to injury and had sentence deferred until August 23 for a background report.

He was again remanded in custody.
