AN Easter Ross lifeboat crew was alerted after several calls from anxious members of the public yesterday.

Invergordon lifeboat was launched over concerns of a person in the water by Cromarty.

The drama unfolded at 3.19pm yesterday afternoon as the lifeboat was launched following a tasking by the UK Coastguard.

Several 999 calls had been received by concerned members of public voicing concern about a person in the water.

The boat was stood down on arriving on the scene, RNLI Invergordon reported. The incident was recorded as "a false alarm with good intent" and no one was in fact in any trouble.
