A Ross-shire Highland gathering has been cancelled for the second year in succession because of ongoing uncertainty over the coronavirus pandemic.

And for Strathpeffer, it will be the third year without an event as 2019's fell victim of the weather.

Organisers of the Strathpeffer Highland Gathering made the announcement for this year's planned event "with regret".

It is amongst dozens of eagerly anticipated events in Ross-shire's annual calendar to have again fallen foul of the pandemic.

Organisers said: "Sadly and with regret we have to announce that the Strathpeffer Highland Gathering is not going to go ahead in 2021. The fact that we rely quite heavily on travel for attendees to come and enjoy our gathering and the uncertainty of what lies ahead in the coming three to four months means we are unable to organise in time.

"We know this will be disappointing news for our followers but we hope you will support us at the 2022 Gathering in August next year.Hoping everyone is staying safe and in good health."
