THE retiring head teacher of a Ross-shire primary has wished pupils well for the return to the classrooms tomorrow and thanked well-wishers for their kindness as her school career ends.

Lorna Sim, who stood down as head teacher of Avoch Primary on the Black Isle posted: "To the pupils, parents, ex- parents and members of the community. Thank you so much for the fantastic farewell you gave me on my retirement from Avoch Primary.

"Thank you for all the wonderful cards and presents and good wishes – your kindness means a lot to me.

"I will very much miss the pupils of Avoch and wish them all the best in their futures."

She added: "A special thank you for organising and attending the amazing themed garden party on Saturday after a long wait for the restrictions to be eased. I leave with lots of happy memories, and photos!"

She also wished her successor as head teacher, Mrs Third, best wishes.
