A Ross-shire drug dealer was exposed after postal workers found thousands of pounds of cocaine addressed to him while sorting parcels.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that mail staff had been working at Dingwall sorting office on May 20, 2021, when they discovered a suspicious package address to a “D. Stewart”.

Police were called in with sniffer dogs and found it contained more than 240 grams of cocaine worth between £7500 and £10,000.

Daniel Stewart (33) was traced to his home in the town's Simpson Place where herbal cannabis worth £8000 was found as well as 48 cannabis plants in late stages of development.

The plants were valued as being worth between £9600 and £28,800 if harvested properly.

Stewart admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine and cannabis as well as producing cannabis.

The cannabis charges relate to a period between July 18, 2020 and May 20, 2021, while the cocaine charge only applies to May 20, 2021.

Sheriff Sara Matheson asked for background reports and deferred sentence until February 3.

The Crown's motion for forfeiture of all the drugs was granted.

Stewart was released on bail meantime.
