A ROSS-SHIRE dance teacher whose students have entertained more than a million people from around the world was momentarily wrong-footed when thrust into the spotlight.
Anne Noble from Tain opened the dance school that bears her name back in 1975.
She has since then taught generations of students in the finer arts of Highland dancing and over the past 15 years prepared many of them to perform in front of visitors from around the world on mega cruise liners berthing at Invergordon.
Her hook-up with Cruise Highland and the Invergordon Music Song and Dance Group has been a hit with delighted visitors, one so impressed with the choreography that he made enquiries to find out more. The passenger in question was David Roberts, chief executive officer of UKA Dance, a Blackpool-based teaching and examination board.
He invited Ms Noble to be a guest at their 30th Highland Gathering in Aberdeen and surprised her with a Roll of Honour diploma for outstanding services to Highland dancing.
Ms Noble said: "It was very much an honour to be presented with the diploma. I thought I had been invited just as a guest and then they announced it. I didn't expect it and it's very humbling. In 15 years we have danced in front of around 1,490,870 on the cruise liners. We have students coming from as far as Gairloch, Inverness and Embo and we teach them to dance for competitions as well."
The accolade was given ahead of the current coronavirus crisis.
The school also regularly organises charity events.
