HOPES of buying a woodland for a Ross-shire community are set to take a step forward at a public meeting next week.

The Forestry Commission is seeking to sell Dublin Woods in Ardross, and the local community has been given the option of buying it.

A group has been set up to explore the option, and a meeting in Ardross Community Hall will elect the office bearers on Tuesday.

“A small group has been working to adopt a constitution and working committee to work towards purchasing this woodland for the community,” said a spokesman. “It is intended to elect the office bearers [on Tuesday].

“To become a member is £12 per annum. But please do come along if you just want to find out more about purchasing this woodland and what’s involved in helping out.”

The meeting will begin at 7.30pm.
