Parklands Care Homes is backing Scottish Apprenticeship Week, highlighting the benefits of apprenticeships to individuals, businesses, and the Scottish economy.

Parklands has over a dozen modern apprentices across its group, including several in Ross-shire.

Kirsty MacLean, a carer at Urray House in Muir of Ord, is one of Parklands' modern apprentices. She is currently undertaking her Modern Apprenticeship qualification in Social Services and Healthcare.

“I am learning a great deal through my SVQ Level 2, but also benefit greatly through support and guidance from my colleagues which enables me to provide excellent quality care,” said Kirsty.

Another Muir of Ord success story is Connor McMinn, a night carer at Urray House, who has just completed his SCQF level 7 qualification in Social Services and Healthcare (the equivalent of SVQ 3). Connor said: “My SVQ 3 has helped me improve my skills, which means I am better able to support the residents we care for at Urray House.”
