Two Ross-shire businesses have been shortlisted in this year’s FSB Scotland Celebrating Small Business Awards.

They will join 67 other businesses from across Scotland vying for one or more of the 12 accolades up for grabs.

The awards lunch takes place on Wednesday, March 8 in Glasgow’s Grand Central Hotel.

Badachro Distillery has been shortlisted for the Exporter Award.

The small, independent distillery produces whiskies, gins and vodka in Badachro.

The Exporter of the Year category is open to both novice and established exporters. Judges will be looking for businesses that can demonstrate how working internationally has benefited their business profitability, growth, and strategy.

Teclan has been shortlisted for the Larger Small Business of the Year Award.

Based at Tore on the Black Isle, Teclan is a full suite marketing agency providing a range of strategic, creative and technical solutions.

This award celebrates the larger small businesses who have expanded to 10-100 full and/or part-time employees. Judges will be looking for businesses that have demonstrated strong revenue, whilst retaining their service level standards and employee retention records.

Wishing both shortlisted businesses well, the Federation of Small Businesses’ Highlands & Islands Development Manager, David Richardson, said: “It’s really good to see businesses from Ross-shire being shortlisted for our national awards again this year.

“I’m really looking forward to supporting them in Glasgow on Wednesday the 8th, but win or lose, we should all be immensely proud of them, for the owners of these businesses have one thing in common: they are dedicated, hard-working and entrepreneurial, and they are committed to the Highlands. It’s businesses like these that keep our local economies and communities going, and we should all support them and their kind.”
