A DISPUTE between neighbours ended with one of them brandishing a baseball bat and police arriving.

Alan Macdonald of Broomhill Road, Muir of Ord had been drinking with his neighbour, 50-year-old Craig Gillespie, when they had an argument on November 12, 2022, Inverness Sheriff Court heard.

Fiscal depute Naomi Duffy-Welsh told Sheriff Ian Cruickshank that Macdonald was shouting and screaming at Mr Gillespie before going into his property and returning with a baseball bat and making offensive remarks.

Macdonald (58) admitted threatening or abusive behaviour.

Defending, Marc Dickson said: "Other neighbours saw them both rolling about on the ground and then my client coming out of his house with a baseball bat.

"He never left the confines of his garden, was told not to be so stupid and go back inside which he did."

Macdonald was fined £470.
