Bear Scotland said the recent bad weather had impacted on all its entire schedule of works in the North West.

LONG-awaited resurfacing works on the A835 near Ullapool have been postponed yet again.

Bear Scotland, which maintains the trunk road, had been due to start the works at Lael, west of Braemore, on February 23, but the project was pushed back until Tuesday of this week.

However Bear Scotland said this week that the £115,000 works planned for a 1km stretch have had to be postponed once more.

It said recent severe weather had had an impact on the overall programme of planned improvement works to trunk roads in the area.

This has had a knock-on effect on these resurfacing works which will now be scheduled during the coming months.

Eddie Ross, of BEAR Scotland’s North West Unit, said: "We are committed to undertaking these resurfacing improvements to the A835 at Lael Forest as soon as is practical and are liaising with contractors, police and local authorities to set an appropriate time frame for the week-long programme. As soon as the date is set we will alert all interested parties in the local area."
