A PUBLIC exhibition will be held in Invergordon this evening (Thursday) to update the community about a £24 million expansion at the port.

The exhibition, organised by the Port of Cromarty Firth, will run from 5pm to 7pm at the Arts Centre in the town's High Street.

Since February 2014, work has been underway to reclaim nine acres of the seabed in the firth to construct a new 154-metre deep water quay at the Invergordon Service Base.

It is hoped that the new facilities will open up markets and business opportunities around the Cromarty Firth, helping to ensure the long-term future of the port.

Port chief executive Bob Buskie said: "This is a truly exciting time and I am delighted that the public will have the opportunity to be updated as the project enters its final stage of construction.

"The expansion aims to secure the long-term future of the port through a programme of ongoing investment and regeneration."
