DINGWALL Leisure Centre's swimming pool will not reopen on Monday – and Highland Council has not given a revised date.

The local authority made the announcement shortly after 5pm on Friday. The pool has been closed while refusbishment work is carried out.

A spokeswoman said: "Due to ongoing works at Dingwall Leisure Centre, the pool will remain closed.

"The pool had expected to reopen on Monday but the additional time is required to get the new ventilation system up and running to ensure that there is an ambient temperature in the pool hall for swimmers.

"It is unfortunate that the works have run on longer than anticipated, but it is felt that opening before works are fully complete would not be acceptable to centre users."

They added that further opening updates "will be made on social media" but failed to give a revised date.
