ACTIONS by the Prime Minister's father to ignore international travel guidance during the Covid-19 lockdown "stink of one rule for them and another rule for the rest of us", a Ross MP has argued.

Boris Johnson's father Stanley has been under fire this morning after the Daily Mail reported that he'd travelled to a holiday home in Greece, despite the Mediterranean nation banning direct flights from the UK as it seeks to protect its citizens from the higher levels of Covid-19 in the British Isles. Official UK government guidelines also advise against all but "essential" international travel during the pandemic.

The reports claim Mr Johnson flew to Greece via an indirect route, circumventing the direct Greek flight ban – sparking fury across the political spectrum.

And Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross MP Jamie Stone is among those who reacted to the news.

The Liberal Democrat MP said: "This is the same man that accused the British public of being illiterate. The same man who said it isn’t the rules that are the problem, but people’s inability to understand them.

"Maybe the only way our Prime Minister can avoid condemning his father’s actions is if Stanley Johnson flew the plane himself to test his eyesight...

"Once again this stinks of one rule for them and another rule for the rest of us."

Mr Johnson argued that his journey was "essential" as he was "Covid-proofing" his property ahead of the letting season commencing.
