AN EASTER Ross distillery has opened the doors on its new £1million "one of a kind" visitor experience.
The Dalmore Distillery says the Alness revamp was inspired by its traditions of luxury and craftsmanship and "takes guests on a sensory journey where they can embrace the unique atmosphere, sounds and smells" of the famous product.
Carefully controlled lighting has been installed to change the mood and the atmosphere, whilst visitors will also be able to smell the spirit and hear the sound of the grain being milled on their way round.
The company says Scottish craftsmanship lies behind every element of the Experience - from the carved oak boardroom table inlaid with the solid silver 12-point stag’s head which appears on all bottles of Dalmore, to the specially designed bottle display cases, and the “bloodline”, a sparkling glass mosaic.
Other features include hidden doors, with a secret entrance from the shop through to the Alchemy Room where a circular tasting table will be internally illuminated. At the heart of the Experience is the Custodians’ Lounge where visitors can discuss their love of whisky over a glass of Dalmore.
The Dalmore distillery has been producing exceptional single malt whisky since 1839. The distillery warehouses feature some of the oldest whisky stocks in the world and visitors to the distillery receive a rare insight into the skill, expertise and crafting required to produce each precious drop of The Dalmore.
Distillery manager Ian Mackay said, "We’re very excited to be launching such a unique experience in the home of the world’s most revered malt. All the sights, sounds and smells of the Dalmore’s distilling process have been carefully brought to life in this one of a kind distillery tour."
Opening times for the Distillery Visitor Experience are Monday to Friday 11am – 5pm. Tours can be booked for 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Bookings can be made in advance online at thedalmore.com or by calling 01349 882 362.
