A ROSS-SHIRE curator who successfully steered her museum towards a national award success has also found time to complete a Bachelor of Arts Gaelic Scotland degree in her spare time.

Dr Karen Buchanan of Gairloch Museum completed the course with West Highland College UHI after six years of part-time study.

It was undertaken as professional development to better understand the Gaelic cultural heritage of Gairloch and the wider Highlands and Islands. She has come away with a grounding in the Gaelic language which helps her to understand and appreciate the Gaelic language materials in the collections.

The revamped facility made headlines when it shared a prestigious Art Fund Museum of the Year award in 2020.

Many took to the museum's social media page to congratulate her on the effort.
