THE window of a D&E bus filled with Ross County fans was smashed by Raith Rovers fans as they left Kirkcaldy last night (May 23).

The Black Isle Supporters Club were celebrating Ross County’s victory against Raith Rovers against Kirkcaldy as they boarded the bus home back to the Highlands.

However, as they were leaving Raith Rovers fans threw stones at the bus as it was leaving causing “at least £1000 of damage” by cracking the window.

The incident has left fans and D&E Coaches shocked. The well-respected Highland-based firm said “we have never experienced anything like this before”.

Asked to confirm details of the incident, Gayle McEwan of D&E Coaches said: “Our vehicle was stoned on the way out, and has had at least £1000 worth of damage to it. We have never experienced anything like this before in all our years of travelling all over the country with supporters.

“We have the glass being replaced currently, as it was put into the workshop first thing as we fortunately had glass in our store.”

One Ross County fan who was on the bus said: “Shame the Raith fans smashed our bus window. Great game though. What absolute idiots.

“The real issue here is they were obviously trying to annoy us. Yes it made us later home, but the real victim here is D&E Coaches who have to foot the bill for a new window.”

The Ross County fan also confirmed that nobody was hurt due to the incident.

Ross County welcome Raith Rovers to Dingwall on Sunday for the second leg of the play-off, the winner of which secures top flight status.

It’s advantage Ross County after the first leg 2-1 victory.
