CATERERS preparing hospitality meals for today's eagerly anticipated fixture between Ross County FC and Hibs in Dingwall were left with a potential headache when the plug was pulled on the game at short notice.

An outbreak of Covid-19 amongst the Hibs players was notified to the club this morning, resulting in disappointment for fans and a problem for hospitality partner, Red Poppy Catering. Ross County said this evening that the cooked food had been donated to the Capstone Centre in Alness.

The Capstone Centre is a local community hub supporting the people of Alness and surrounding areas.

Members of the public backed the generous gesture.

Brian Stott posted: "Well done County…excellent gesture."

Margaret Russell wrote: "That was lovely well done x"

"Well done all at County", wrote Fiona Mackay.

Regarding the cancellation, which was advised to Ross County by the SPFL this morning, the club said: "We can confirm that a short time ago we received information from the SPFL that today’s match with Hibernian has been postponed due to a Covid outbreak within the Hibernian team.

"Ross County are extremely disappointed with this situation and apologise to all home and away supporters and staff travelling to this fixture as a result of this decision which is entirely due to circumstances beyond our control.

"There will be a further update when available."

The postponement was also a blow for a food bank collection which had been arranged to coincide. It went ahead until 2pm with the club shop accepting donations.
