Ross County have added striker Ross Stewart to their squad ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Dunfermline.

The striker (21) has joined the Staggies on a permanent deal from Premiership side St Mirren.

He began his career in the Junior ranks with Kilwinning Rangers before moving on to Albion Rovers.

A spell at Cliftonhill saw him catch the eye of then-St Mirren manager Jack Ross.

The forward spent the second half of last season on loan at Alloa, scoring ten goals in 23 appearances to help the Wasps to promotion – including an injury-time equaliser in the playoff final which they went on to win.

County co-manager Steven Ferguson was delighted to get Stewart on board and says the club can provide the perfect springboard for the talented striker.

“Ross is a player who ticks a lot of the boxes we were looking for,” he said.

“We are delighted to get him into the squad.

“We are trying to cover all bases and Ross gives us options in the ways we can attack.

“He is still a young boy and he has scored a lot of goals in the lower leagues. He’s still young and he’s got a lot of potential to improve even further.

“We are really looking forward to working with him.

“Ross is a great athlete and his work ethic is really good as well. He likes to run in behind but he can also come in from the wide areas.

“It’s a very exciting signing for us. He’s hungry and wants to take that next step.”
