NEW figures show a slight decline in the number of homeless applications received by Highland Council across Ross and Cromarty.

A total of 210 people presented themselves as homeless in 2013-14 compared to 262 in 2012-13.

The primary reasons were relationship breakdown, notice served by landlord and overcrowding.

The council has a housing stock of 3,687 in Ross and Cromarty.

Rent arrears went down by £45,642 from £401,726 to £356,084 between April 2013 and April 2014.
