JUBILEE fever is set to sweep a popular Ross-shire beach – with tasty incentives for anyone turning up in a crown!

Rosemarkie Amenities Association (RAA) is behind the right royal fun day taking place at the local beach on Jubilee Monday – June 4.

The event is one of several across Ross-shire taking place to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The community-run amenities group aims to make it a day to remember whatever the weather and is targeting the taste buds of those prepared to turn out appropriately attired in red, white and blue – or crowns.

The beach café, recently opened after a major revamp, is extending its menu for the day.

It’s offering free jubilee cupcakes – while stocks last – for anyone turning up dressed for the occasion.

Harking to the days of traditional seaside fun, the event also promises a sandcastle competition from 1.30pm with prizes for the best decorated, funniest, most complicated and most recognisable on a theme.

One of the organisers, Verity Walker, said: “We want to encourage as many youngsters as we can out on to the beach for the free sandcastle competition – especially good for dispelling those Higher blues! It’s good for the teens to rediscover their inner toddler sometimes.”

The beach café is currently open from 10.30aqm until 3.30pm – “longer if it’s sunny”.
