Roadworks are set to cause disruption on the A9 near the Kessock Bridge next week.

The northbound carriageway at North Kessock will be subject to daytime lane restrictions from Monday, December 4 to Friday, December 8 while the final phase of work is carried out on new cycle and pedestrian lanes next to the road.

In recent months contractors have been widening the footpath area onto the neighbouring grass verge to accommodate an "active travel" corridor.

The works will result in one of the northbound lanes on the A9 being closed from 7am to 3.30pm daily next week. This is to keep workers safe.

Ian Stewart, Bear Scotland’s north-west representative, said: “This project is part of an ongoing commitment to improve safety for all road users on the A9 and will see improvements to the existing links for pedestrians and cyclists in the area.

"The project has taken longer than expected due to poor weather, however we aim to complete it before the worst of the winter weather.

"We thank drivers and the local community for their patience."
