Bear Scotland and Transport Scotland confirm planned resurfacing roadworks on the A9 3km to the north of the Tore roundabout

MOTORISTS travelling on the A9 on the Black Isle are set to face several days disruption when major resurfacing work gets under way on Thursday.

Bear Scotland contractors will be resurfacing roughly half a kilometre of damaged road surface, roughly three kilometres to the north of the Tore roundabout.

The road will stay open, but a 10mph convoy traffic system will operate during the work in order to keep workers safe. The measures will run on weekdays from 7am to 7pm, and are expected to continue until Wednesday, July 15 inclusive.

There will be no work at the weekend, but temporary 30mph speed limits will be in force on Saturday and Sunday and on week nights when contractors are not working.

"Local residents will be permitted access during the works, although there may be times when this is restricted due to the nature of the works and to ensure the safety of our workforce and members of the public, which is of paramount importance," said a spokesman for Bear Scotland.

"Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times. Bear Scotland and Transport Scotland wish to thank the local community in advance for their patience during these essential works.
