RNLI called out to 'unidentified object' in Moray Firth near Rosemarkie

AN "unidentified object" in the water off Rosemarkie sparked a call out for the RNLI's Kessock lifeboat on Sunday evening.
The crew were scrambled at 6.25pm after a request to launch by the coastguard to assist in the search.
"The lifeboat, with a volunteer crew of four, made way at speed to the location to carry out a search of the area in below freezing temperatures," said an RNLI spokesman. "On arrival, it was discovered the object was a mooring of a local skipper and no further assistance was required.
"The call was made with good intentions, and as always, we’d encourage members of the public to call 999 and request the coastguard if they see anything untoward on or near the water."
