THE Kyle of Lochalsh lifeboat was launched today to go to the aid of a yacht that had run aground on rocks in Loch Duich near Eilean Donan Castle.

The alarm was raised at 10.36am and the B Class lifeboat the Spirit of Fred Olsen made all speed to the scene.

An RNLI spokesman said the crew managed to get a line on board the yacht and the vessel was pulled clear. It is understood there were no injuries.

It was the second call-out in three days to Eilean Donan for the Kyle rescue boat.

On Sunday morning a man taking photographs of the castle fell about 20ft off rocks and landed in the sea.

He managed to get out the water but was stranded on the rocks due to his injuries. He was taken aboard the lifeboat and ferried to a waiting ambulance and taken to hospital.
