RESIDENTS of Highland villages near Dingwall and Inverness are invited to express their concerns over bus services in their area.

Bus users experiencing issues on services in Bunchrew, Lentran, Kirkhill, Kiltarlity, Beauly, Muir of Ord, Dingwall and connecting services will be able to discuss their worries at a public meeting to be held at Kiltarlity Village Hall on Thursday, October 20, from 7pm to 9pm.

An initiative of Kirkhill & Bunchrew Community Council, the meeting was mainly set to address worries over the removal of a late service for the 28 route from Inverness.

After carrying out a Facebook survey, the community council was decided to hold a public meeting to allow members of the public to express their concerns with a Stagecoach representative present.

Drew Hendy MP, who has been discussing with Stagecoach over other issues in the area and who held a round table with their representatives earlier this year, will be chairing the event.

Cameron Kemp, chairman of the Kirkhill & Bunchrew Community Council, said: "We were contacted by residents concerned about the Stagecoach no 28 bus service which runs from Inverness to Dingwall via Kirkhill, Kiltarlity, Beauly and Muir of Ord.

"The principal concern is the removal of the late evening service from Inverness which affected those working in hospitality returning home and those wishing to make evening trips to town for social and leisure purposes.

"This would have the benefit of allowing Stagecoach to gauge potential interest for the reinstatement of the late evening service.

"Other concerns raised included the lateness or cancellation of services which left people stranded with an expensive taxi fare alternative."
