Kintail Mountain Rescue were recently reunited with a man they rescued earlier this year.

Garry Collins was injured during a descent from Beinn Fhada, Kintail on May 16.

He was walking with his dog down the east side of Meall a Bhealaich in late afternoon when he slipped and tripped in wet conditions, falling about 60 metres down a rocky slope.

He suffered multiple injuries and was unable to walk or move but was able to trigger a personal locator beacon which notified emergency services about his location.

A spokesperson for Kintail Mountain Rescue said: "Coastguard helicopter attended and dropped off their paramedic who immediately set to work. The helicopter then picked up and transported members of Kintail Mountain Rescue to the location.

"Kintail MRT member Dr Sarah Patching was with the team and supported the paramedic in preparing Garry for transport to the helicopter, which in turn took him to Glasgow trauma unit. He is still is in discomfort several months later but in good spirits."

Meeting again with his rescuers Mr Collins presented them with a cheque for £1000 as thanks for their vital assistance.

The spokesperson added: "As volunteers, donations are vital to the work we do in ensuring we have the right equipment and training when our help is needed.

"A huge thanks to Garry for his generous support and we wish him all the very best for a speedy recovery."
