MOTORISTS in some Wester Ross communities face lengthy detours if travelling overnight in the coming days.

The Lair Railway Bridge on the A890 will be subject to night-time repairs for the next four days, starting tonight (Monday).

As a result, the A890 will be closed at Achnashellach from 11pm until 6am each evening, ending at 6am on Friday.

During the works a diversion will be in place via the A896 Kishorn-Torridon-Kinlochewe junction and the A832 between Kinlochewe and Achnasheen.

An "hourly amnesty" will also allow vehicles to pass under the bridge "every hour or so", should drivers wish to avoid the lengthy detour.
