AN EASTER Ross heavy hopes to muscle in on the United States by taking part in a classic strongman competition.

Tom Stoltman from Invergordon hopes to make his name on the world stage by competing at the Arnold Classic Strongman world amateur championship in Columbus, Ohio next March.

The 20-year-old, who stands 6’8” tall and requires size 18 shoes is fundraising for the trip and declares himself blown away by the support of local businesses, friends and well-wishers to date.

A raffle supported by local businesses helped raise £2,000 towards the kitty needed for travel, accommodation and equipment expenses.

Having claimed the title of Scotland’s strongest junior, Tom is closely supported by his older brother, Luke (30), Scotland’s Strongest Man two years running.

Luke is giving his “little” brother support with a strict training and dietary regime.

The raffle will be drawn at an open afternoon at Invergordon Social Club on Saturday, December 13 between noon and 2pm.

The brothers have extended an open invitation to everyone interested to join the fun afternoon. Visitors can have their pictures taken with the burly brothers and challenge them to an arm wrestle if they feel brave enough.

Less arduous is the opportunity to have a go at the tombola and guess the weight of the Harry Gow cake.
