AFTER the excitement of the jubilee, Maryburgh has set the scene for a week of festivities with the announcement of its gala queen and attendants.

India Mackenzie has been chosen for the prestigious position for this year's event along with Iris Steel and Flora MacRae.

Starting tomorrow and leading up to next Saturday's gala day, the event promises to be a joyous return to a full programme of events which include a bingo night, a cycling Tour de Maryburgh, quiz night, fun pet show and car treasure hunt.

The gala kicks off on June 18 with a whole host of activities including archery, a bucking bronco, a bouncy castle, martial arts and radio controlled cars.

The queen and her attendants will be driven to Maryburgh Hall in style in a 1930s' Austin and led by the Strathpeffer Pipe Band.

There will also be a raffle and plenty of food to fuel the fun.

The gala is firm favourite and the key fundraiser to keep the hall up to scratch.

This year the Maryburgh Community Council are aiming to replace the roof which has a leak in it.

A final call for donations includes plants, bottles for the bottle stall and as much baking as possible.

To donate, contact Steph on 07970 010718.

The programme can be seen on the Maryburgh Roundabout Facebook page.
