Highland Council will shortly be seeking the views of local communities on the future of a Wester Ross school.

Torridon Primary School is currently 'mothballed' and has been since June 2012.

It is being joined by Struan Primary School in Skye – mothballed since April 2022, in the consultation.

Members of the council's education committee have agreed to undertake formal public consultations on proposals to formally close the schools. Both consultations will take place under procedures set down in The Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010.

In the case of Struan Primary, the views of parents, school pupils, the local community and others will be sought over a period extending from February 23 to April 21, 2023. A public meeting will be held in Struan on 20 March 2023.

In the case of Torridon, the public consultation will begin on February 27, 2023, and the public meeting will be held on March 28, 2023.

The proposal papers and associated documentation will be available, from the beginning of the respective dates, on The Highland Council website at www.highland.gov.uk/schoolconsultations.
