THE major psychological boost of a slight relaxation in coronavirus restrictions has been welcomed by a local group monitoring figures and offering useful insight.

The Safe Hands, Saves Lives group was initially set up near the start of the first lockdown to spread the message about the importance of washing hands and avoiding touching your face during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dr Ross Jaffrey, who has patients in Muir of Ord and Beauly, and who has been involved in vaccination clinics, welcomed continued improvement and slight relaxation of the rules from today.

People are permitted to meet two other adults from the same household outside. He posted: "A big psychological boost.

"Be careful and we will slowly reopen further, enabling life to get back to a more normal place.

"Primary schools fully back next week, the sigh of relief from many parents is audible. Remember to keep up the good work that has helped get us here."
