Engineers are on site and working to restore power to communities hit by an electric outage on the shores of Loch Torridon.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks' (SSEN) Powertrack map was showing a number of communities were affected a the time of writing –although the number of homes cut off was not known.

The map, however, shows outages extending from Kenmore in the west to Shieldaig in the east.

The outage was reported at around 10.12am on Thursday. SSEN said it hoped to restore power by 4.30pm, although this time slot could shift.

"We're sorry for the loss of supply," said a spokesperson for SSEN. "We currently have a fault. Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back in as quickly as they can.

"If you need more information, please call us on 105 or send us a message on Facebook or Twitter (@ssencommunity) and quote reference 'NC2136'."
